Chevrolet Lifts Lid on 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible

Chevrolet revealed the 2014 Corvette Stingray convertible today at the Geneva Motor Show, featuring an all-new, fully electronic top that can be lowered remotely using the car’s key fob. The top can also be opened or closed on the go, at speeds of up to 30 mph (50 km/h).
“The convertible has been a part of the heart and soul of Corvette since the very beginning in 1953,” said Ed Welburn, GM vice president of global design. “With the all-new Corvette Stingray, we designed and developed the coupe and convertible simultaneously. As a result, the Corvette Stingray offers an open-top driving experience with no compromise in performance, technology or design.”
The Corvette Stingray coupe and convertible arrive in global markets in late 2013, with left-hand-drive models to be offered in Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, Japan and Russia. Changes to Corvettes for export vary only in equipment required to accommodate a respective market’s regulations, such as lighting, headlamp washers and outside mirrors.
“Its fitting to introduce the new Stingray convertible on the global stage at Geneva, because Corvette is the face of Chevrolet the world over,” said Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe. “It is an icon that has long been recognized and admired even in countries where it’s never officially been offered.”
All of the performance technology and capabilities introduced on the Corvette Stingray coupe carry over to the convertible. The only structural changes are limited to accommodations for the folding top and repositioned safety belt mounts. Central to the Corvette Stingray’s driving experience is an all-new, more rigid aluminum frame structure, which is 57-percent stiffer and 99 pounds (45 kg) lighter than the current steel frame.
All models are powered by the new LT1 6.2L V-8, with an estimated 450-hp (335 kW) and 450 lb-ft of torque (610 Nm). As no structural reinforcements are required for the convertible, both models share almost identical power-to-weight ratios.
The LT1 combines several advanced technologies, including direct injection, Active Fuel Management and continuously variable valve timing to support an advanced combustion system designed to balance power and efficiency. The new Corvette Stingray is expected to improve upon the current model’s fuel economy of 13.6L/100km (EPA-estimated highway fuel economy of 26 mpg).
With the top up, the Corvette Stingray convertible is designed for a ined driving experience. A thick, three-ply fabric top, along with sound-absorbing padding and a glass rear window, contributes to a quiet cabin and premium appearance.
With the top down, the Corvette Stingray’s signature profile is further accentuated. Behind the seat backs, dual black accent panels enhance the character lines of the tonneau cover. Corvette Stingray’s signature “waterfall” design originates in the valley between the nacelles, bringing the exterior color into the interior.
Additional highlights of the all-new Corvette Stingray coupe and convertible include:
  • A sculpted exterior with advanced high-intensity discharge and light-emitting diode lighting and racing-proven aerodynamics that balance low drag for efficiency and performance elements for improved stability and track capability
  • An interior that offers genuine carbon fiber and aluminum trim, hand-wrapped leather materials, dual eight-inch configurable driver/infotainment screens, and two new seat choices – each featuring a lightweight magnesium frame for exceptional support
  • Advanced driver technologies, including a five-position Drive Mode Selector that tailors 12 vehicle attributes to fit the driver’s environment and a new seven-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching that anticipates gear selections and matches engine speed for perfect shifts every time
  • Lightweight materials, including a carbon fiber hood on all models and a carbon fiber removable roof panel on coupes; composite fenders, doors and rear quarter panels; carbon-nano composite underbody panels and a new aluminum frame help shift weight rearward for an optimal 50/50 weight balance that supports a world-class power-to-weight ratio
  • Track-capable Z51 Performance Package, including an electronic limited-slip differential; dry-sump oiling system; integral brake, differential and transmission cooling; as well as a unique aero package that further improves high-speed stability.
“We wanted the driving experience of the Corvette to live up to the performance expectations that come with the ‘Stingray’ name,” said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer. “Because it was designed from the beginning as an open-top car, the Corvette Stingray delivers an exhilarating, connected driving experience – no matter what configuration you choose.”

5 Star Review on Yelp!

Yelp_logo

Mr. Larson,

On Dec. 26, 2012, my wife, Julie, went to your dealership desiring to purchase a new vehicle. She met with Tom McClure, one of your sales representatives.  She chose to meet with him as we had previously spoken with him in August regarding the Chevrolet Traverse.  He was most helpful on that occasion and left a good impression upon us.  About an hour after she had left, Julie called me and asked me to come and sign the contract.  We had received what I believe to be a generous amount on our trade-in and with dealer incentives our monthly payment would be in the range we had hoped for.  When I arrived I noticed the interest rate was higher than I had anticipated and Tom went to Javier to try and lower the rate, which was done.  When we met with Mike, he too was very helpful and exacting in explaining the contract to us. There were some extras that he offered, some of which we accepted and some we did not, but he never pressured us to buy anything. Julie related to me that her experience with Tom as well as mine, was one that was very helpful, no pressure to buy something we did not need, and always a professional yet personable salesman.  My only concern was that we were unaware that the vehicle did not have a spare tire or "donut", but rather it has a pump to inflate the tire.  Tom asked us to contact him this week, as we were leaving town for a few days, to discuss the spare tire situation, which we will do. Prior to us leaving with the Traverse, Tom took the time to show us how everything worked, helped us set up OnStar, and sync our phones with the vehicle.  He also showed us how to use the Sirius Radio and explained some of the on board computer systems as well as answered all of our questions. He also provided us with his personal cell phone so that we could contact him directly, in case we had any questions or concerns. We have bought our last three vehicles from your dealership and each time we have been very pleased with your staff, which is why we keep coming back.  I would recommend the "team" that we worked with to anyone. Even though your dealership is undergoing renovations that make it less attractive, your staff made us feel "at home" and very comfortable.

Our thanks to you and them.

Ken and Julie W.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe Turbo Fuel Culture Hot On Your Heels

What do you get when a supplier of tuning products allows complete freedom in the design of a normal coupe? Right, an awesome level with the right fire under. This happened between FuelCulture and Hyundai. Result: the Hyundai Genesis Coupe Turbo Concept with robust 320 hp and a maximum torque of 328 Nm under the hood.

320 hp is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is not usually expected, but this has usually offer the Hyundai Genesis Coupe Turbo only respectable 277 hp. But if to be pimped, then boasted instead spilled. Since 43 hp more directly be fetched from the box. To keep the extra power under control, built the makers a “boost controller” and a new “ARK DT-S” exhaust system in order to ensure a better response during switching and reduce the top speeds the boost pressure. The improved pulling power to the inmates literally squeeze the smile on your face.

Hyundai

If up until this point has not yet been possible to twist the head will not turn away his eyes from the optics, for the Hyundai Genesis Coupe Turbo Concept of Fuel Culture comes up with a beefy front. The rich dark red color “Candy Apple” exudes an air of sin. The new hexagonal front grille seems to grin smugly, as if he knew exactly what he looks like.

New, deeply drawn, dynamic bumper, striking side skirts and a rear apron with integrated diffuser stately pull the car by 50 millimeters apart. In the new 19-inch wheels made by Rotiform that support the aggressive sporty look, attracted the makers of “Continental Extreme Contact DW” tires (front with 225/35 and rear 265/30).

Hyundai

Changes in the interior reduced Fuel Culture to a minimum. The comfortable Alcantara sport seats, the rear bench and the insides of the doors are color matched and stitched diamond pattern. If that’s not enough, you can also still turn up a sonorous sound system from Rockford Fosgate. At least here, not only have all heads turned, there are also a lot of stalk eyes. Guaranteed!

5 Star Review on Yelp!

"This review is for the internet sales team of Adele and Ziggy. I do not like dealing with sales people especially when it comes to cars. They are always trying to swindle and it is just not fun. I called Bob Stall and worked with Adele and gave her my facts,I told her exactly what I wanted and what I could afford. She did not try to just sell me a truck, she took the time to look at all my options and what would work best for my situation. The next day she had me work with Ziggy and he just got right to the point and told me what is available to me. So that night I went to Bob Stall to and bought my new truck. Everything went exactly like they said it would, none of that "Tell them what they want to hear to get them on the lot stuff". These two put together the perfect deal for me, they were friendly, very straight forward and they have restored my faith in the car sales industry. I will not go to another dealer to buy my wifes new truck, I will go to Bob Stall and work with Adele and Ziggy because they do it the way it should be done!! I thank them both and I just love my new truck. Did I mention that I love my new truck? I love my new truck:)"

Very happy,
David Z.

Chevrolet Corvette 2014 Big Changes On The Horizon

The unveiling of the seventh generation Chevrolet Corvette 2014, which will probably take place on January 13 in Detroit, is without doubt one of the most anticipated events in the automotive industry. We expect significant changes. As proof, even the Chevrolet Corvette 2014 logo, two flags, has changed. This logo has evolved over the years, but was redesigned for the first time since the introduction of the car in the 50s. It will now be more modern, which foreshadows a complete redesign of the car for the 2014 model year.

Chevrolet

Mechanical of Chevrolet Corvette 2014

Until now, we did not know the nature of what we find under the hood of the Chevrolet Corvette 2014 C7. We had heard that General Motors sire worked to design a mechanical displacement to lower that used by the previous models. We had reason to believe that this mechanism would show a smaller displacement, it would be the most modern and could receive technologies such as turbocharging, direct injection of fuel and automatic transmission 8-speed?

Chevrolet

There are yes and no to all questions. A cylinder block smaller? It seems that this will always be the same 6.2-liter V8 that develops likely power 450 hp and produces a torque of 450 lb-ft between 2000 and 4000 rpm. In terms of performance, it seems that this is sufficient to allow the car to complete the 0-100 km / h in less than 4 seconds. Technology? It seems so! We are talking of direct fuel injection and variable valve timing. Also referred to as the variable displacement allow the Chevrolet Corvette 2014 to roll on 4 cylinders on the road, so with a displacement of 3.1 liters. This feature cylinder deactivation allow fuel savings of over 20% and consumption of 9 liters per 100 kilometers on the road. It is also important to note that this mechanism will be significantly lighter than other V8 brand. Regarding gearboxes selected, nothing has transpired on the subject.

Chevrolet

The Chevrolet division of General Motors has decided to build on the successes in competition in the American Le Mans to be more precise, for its sports design of the 2014 model year. It will be entirely new. For the new generation of Corvette, it seems that the designers have not changed the two crossed flags we found at the front of the car, the foundation has been revised, for example, we would brought greater attention to finishing details as well as the color of the car. Then for sixty years, the Chevrolet Corvette 2014 is therefore pays a mechanical modern, new look and a finish worthy of it and more respectful of the customer who pays a hefty price for to get one.
