Nissan 370Z Review
In the first complete redesign of the iconic Nissan Z since the reintroduction in 2003, Nissans new 370Z now sports a shorter wheelbase, use lighter body materials, new engine with more power and a new 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, as well as the first in world synchronized down / up shift rev control for manual transmissions.
But to get the full size of the new model, now designated the Nissan 370Z, one need only look further than the fine line upswept rear window of the new quarter. Essentially Z, the window is reminiscent of the original Nissan 1970 240Z - a car that revolutionized the sports car world with its unique combination of performance, style and, especially, value. Nissans new 370Z continues this philosophy, offering accessible performance, true sports car handling and athletic, agile design.
"The character fresh from Nissan 370Z is immediately apparent in the crisp new exterior design, an even sportier still very identifiable as a Z," says Pierre Loing, Nissans European Vice President for product planning "The. New Nissan 370Z builds on the best features of two generations, which The first and last Z-cars - respectful but not retro, simple yet sophisticated, and undeniably Z. "
New Exterior: More athletic, more muscular, Z. 100%
The 2009 370Z offers the benefits of a dynamic new style of double - a more aggressive appearance and structure, lighter more stringent to improve performance. The wheelbase of the new Z is almost 100 mm shorter than the previous generation Nissan 350Z (2550mm against 2650mm), performed by moving the rear wheels forward in the second FM-generation platform, while overall length is reduced by 70mm (4250mm against 4320mm). At the same time, the overall width been increased by 33mm and rear track by 55mm.
More compact exterior dimensions and expanded use of lightweight materials help reduce weight, while at the same time the body structure has been reinforced, improving rigidity.
With the new structure and posture, the Nissan 370Z has a taut new skin - one that looks completely new, yet completely Z. The exterior design incorporates styling cues deliberately 240Z from a smooth aerodynamic shape, a "dynamic motion" feel with a dramatic roof overhangs (with an index-style Nissan GT-R) and "low visual gravity."
370Z sleek silhouette is defined by the upswept quarter window design that is taken by the curvature of the dynamic in the rocker panels and the direction of the printed sheet stretched itself around the wheels and chassis. Attention to detail and clear function in the exterior design, including the addition of turn indicators integrated into the Z logo mounted between the front wheels and doors.
Nissan 370Z Interior: putting the driver in the heart of the action
The interior design of the new 370Z continues the tradition of Z, Nissan enhance driving pleasure, any road or traffic conditions offer. In addition, special attention is given to material quality and fit and finish.
2-seat layout is built around a traditional instrument panel that is earned by full-length center console separating the driver and passenger seat. In the back of a storage area for luggage and opened by increasing accessibility.
Information layer provides enhanced visibility with easy access to all key data. The gauges once again attached to the steering column, so the driver does not have to choose between the steering wheel position and visibility of the gauges are perfect.
Inner packaging is also enhanced by the previous generation, including the removal of the rear tower strut brace (replaced with less intrusive structural reinforcements) and by adding a "shelf" area behind the new chair, creating the ideal space for storing luggage. An open cover is standard on the 370Z and the lock box gloves are added.
Life on board has been improved with the addition of engine start and stop button, larger diameter dial, and thanks to the use of a premium to feel important on the seat, armrests and door trim (depending on grade).
3.7-liter engine: the heart and soul Z
Like the new name suggests, the new Nissan 370Z is now powered by a 3.7-liter VQ37VHR with VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift). With the larger displacement, the new engine gives better power delivery all the way to 7000 rpm red, increase low-end power and more high-end torque, creating a driving experience an entirely new one. About 35 percent of the engine parts are new, compared with previous models. Power is expected to 331PS, while torque is 366 nm. Engine performance, the figures for Europe are subject to approval.
The new machine is powered by two new advanced transmission options, both designed to improve driver performance. The new manual transmission for a close-ratio 6-speed enhanced including the worlds first synchronized down / up shift rev control system, which allows drivers of any skill level to experience a very smooth gear changes every time. The "SynchroRev Control" function automatically adjusts engine speed when switching to the proper speed of the next gear position, essentially "pulse" the throttle to smooth down / up shifts.
"This exciting new Z is the essence of the Nissan brand, like the original 240Z was almost 40 years earlier," said Loing. "It provides passionate performance at an excellent value - just what was needed then and just what sports car enthusiasts looking for today."
